" I'm processing more orders and finishing sooner! "

As EasyModel’s first customer since June 2023, the Ortho 34 laboratory was quick to embrace artificial intelligence for the production of its 3D models. Today, Frédéric Lapeyre and his team feel much better and can handle more orders. Find out more from Florian Saidi, head of digital tools at Ortho 34.

How has EasyModel transformed your work?

“I joined the company about a month ago and started working directly with EasyModel. Compared to my previous experience, where we used other software to create models, your solution has proven to be considerably faster. We simply upload the files, which allows us to do other work while waiting for the models to be created. This represents a significant time saving.”

What do you like best about EasyModel?

“What I particularly like about EasyModel is the automatic model creation. You just have to trust the software, provided you have a correct base mesh and a suitable file. The software then does an excellent job.”

On a scale of 1 to 5, rate the software in terms of ease of use, from 1 easy to 5 very difficult.

“In terms of ease of use, I’d give it a 2. Once you’ve identified the right parameters, you just have to reproduce them every time you use them, which makes the process very simple. Currently, we have two typical configurations we use, one for models and one for splints.”

How many models do you make a day and how long did it take you to prepare them before EasyModel? And now using EasyModel?

“I make an average of 30 models a day. Previously, manual manipulation of each STL file was necessary, and creating a model took between 5 and 10 minutes, depending on the software. For a series of 30 models, the entire process takes around 2 hours.
It probably takes less than 10 minutes to create 30 templates with your solution. I prepare the files in advance, grouping them according to model, and integrate them directly into your solution. This eliminates the need to adjust parameters each time, and standard configurations greatly simplify the process.”

So you were able to free up a lot of time in your day?

Yes, of course, although the time freed up isn’t always enough to accomplish everything I have to do during the day, it’s very appreciable.

Finally, has EasyModel had a major impact on your productivity?

“Unquestionably, EasyModel has had a positive impact on our productivity. We can process more orders, but that doesn’t just mean an increase in production itself. It also affects our well-being because we no longer have to create all the models manually, which is repetitive, and it saves me time and allows me to leave earlier.”

What new feature would you like to see on EasyModel in the near future?

“I’d like to have a little more control over splint cutting, including the ability to define at what level we want to keep a margin, for example, a minimum distance from the largest collar. Apart from that, the solution seems quite complete, and the aim of making processes highly automatic is achieved.”

Any further comments?

“Honestly, the software is quite complete. Since I’ve been using your solution, I haven’t encountered any problems with holes or anomalies in the templates. The inscriptions engraved on the template are correct, but the length of the text to be printed influences the height of the inscription and it’s sometimes too small when there’s plenty of room. I’m then forced to play with the size of the inscriptions and this needs to be improved a little. Otherwise, it’s already an excellent solution, really top-notch.”
