"Hush! I use AI for molar ditching, but don't tell anyone! "
A meeting with Marie-Gil Beaupré, Manager of the Orthodontie Plus laboratory in Montreal (Canada), who shares her experience with EasyModel, Ai4Dental’s innovative solution.
Can you tell us about your laboratory?
“Our Montreal-based laboratory is a national pioneer in the field of orthodontics. Founded in 1978, we use our expertise to create a wide range of orthodontic prostheses and appliances. Today, our team of technicians continues to drive innovation forward. In 2020, we adopted digital technologies to modernize our processes, improve our performance and maintain our leadership position in a constantly evolving sector. ”

What motivated you to adopt a solution like EasyModel?
“I had a real need to reduce my costs. It’s true that it’s a quite expensive solution, but thanks to it, I’ve been able to operate with one person less on this job, and above all I save a lot of time. Ditching molar band by hand was very time-consuming. We used to base and engrave on Meshmixer, then one person would mill all our models”.
How did you get to grips with the software? Did you encounter any particular difficulties at first?
“Honestly, it went really well. EasyModel is super fun and intuitive. Everything is done in just a few clicks.”
What do you think of Ai4Dental's customer support? Did you get the help you needed to get started?
“I’d say it’s responsive, even proactive! It’s very easy to contact you, and you’re available whenever we need you! even with the time difference.”
What types of models can you generate with EasyModel?
“We make all our models on EasyModel, which are mainly models for molar band, for SX and all our study models.”
What do you think of the models for molar band?
“I love it! As I said, these are the models I save the most time on, they’re precise and so far I haven’t had any negative feedback from my customers. It used to take 10 to 15 minutes to ditch both molars.”
What did they bring you?
“A real time saver and it works just as well!”
Do the models produced by EasyModel meet your expectations?
“Yes. We had a few clipping problems at first because the feature was still in testing, but since then I’ve noticed an improvement in tooth detection and I’m having far fewer problems. As I said, so far I haven’t had any negative feedback!”
To sum up, what do you find most satisfying about EasyModel?
“I’d say, simplicity, speed, it’s “user-friendly” as the young people say and it’s good that it’s dedicated to orthodontics because we feel a bit forgotten by other software developers…”
Would you recommend EasyModel to other laboratories?
“Yes, without hesitation! Although, to be honest, we’d almost like to keep this solution to ourselves, it makes our lives so much easier (laughs). I’ve already talked to some of my colleagues in France about it, because I’m convinced they could benefit from it in the same way we do.”
